Helix is exploring its 100%-owned Western Group Tenements (681km2) within the established Cobar mining region, central NSW, only ~25km from the town of Cobar.
Prospectivity
The area is considered highly prospective for copper and gold deposits. Tenements are situated 25km from the large-scale CSA copper mine and 30km from the multi-million ounce Peak gold operation and 7km south of Mt Boppy gold mine, demonstrating the potential of the region to sustain major mining operations.
The copper prospectivity of the Western Group Tenements is evidenced by the presence of historical mines, robust surficial copper geochemistry, coincident geophysical anomalies (EM), significant drill intersections and the Canbelego Mineral Resource.
Key Regional Structures
The tenements cover the Rochford, Meryula and Mount Lewis trends, interpreted as regional-scale structural trends. The Cobar region is characterised by structurally controlled high-grade precious and base-metal deposits localised proximal to Key Regional Structures.
Known Cobar deposits have steeply plunging “pipe-like” geometries with short strike lengths and extensive depth extent (e.g. CSA). Several pipe-like deposits can be associated with each Key Regional Structure. Helix’s Canbelego copper deposit has a similar geology and geometry.
The Rochford copper trend has a 30 km strike extent and its potential as a Key Regional Structure is indicated by the 4 priority copper projects (Canbelego Mineral Resource, Bijoux, Black Range and Cabellero) delineated by Helix.
Copper and Gold Targets
Helix has effectively deployed a range of exploration tools to generate a significant number of copper and gold targets. The majority of the copper targets occur proximal to the structural trends.
The Company announced a JORC (2012) Mineral Resource for Canbelego of 1.83 Million tonnes at 1.74% Cu for 31,800 tonnes of contained copper at a cut-off grade of 0.8% Cu in June 2023(1).
Helix continues to develop a host of copper projects across the Rochford, Meryula and Mount Lewis trends. Helix is focussed on systematically drill testing existing and new targets.
