Muriel Tank is a 5 km by 1.5 km historic goldfield in central New South Wales with a record of high-grade production and recent results confirming extensions under cover. Located 60 km west of Nyngan, the field produced more than 400 tonnes at 15 g/t Au from shallow workings.
Gold occurs within sub-vertical shear zones up to 4 m wide, hosting quartz veins and quartz breccias up to 2 m thick. The highest grades are often associated with distinctive blue quartz.
Exploration by Helix has demonstrated that mineralisation extends beneath shallow cover. Auger drilling (335 holes) confirmed continuity between historic shafts, while mapping identified multiple sub-parallel shear zones. Rock chip assays returned high grades including 17.9 g/t Au at Mitchells and 12.97 g/t Au at Golden Horseshoe, with several prospective veins remaining untested.
Muriel Tank is considered highly prospective for new discoveries. With multiple undrilled targets, the project represents a priority exploration focus within Helix’s NSW portfolio.
